Students' anxiety in learning English writing in higher education

Research studies on students' writing anxiety have been done in many EFL teaching contexts. However, there are still very limited scientific articles published about university foreign language and the causes Indonesian context. Therefore, this study's main purpose was to analyze its causes. This study employed a descriptive quantitative method. The subjects were chosen from first-year students of Accounting Study Program Muhammadiyah University Palopo academic year 2021-2022, which consists three classes. Two types questionnaires used for collecting data. first questionnaire based Second Language Writing Anxiety Inventory (SLWAI) developed by Cheng (2014). consisted 21 items designed assess English anxiety. second questionnaire, Fear (CSLWFI), derived Rezaei Jafari's (2014), adopted find out feeling writing, ten questions. SPSS ver. 20 gathered findings revealed that student's significant, key poor understanding concepts, linguistic obstacles, insufficient skill practice, time restrictions.
